Lesson 2 (___)

Тема: Listening and speaking skills. Character qualities.

Цели: осваивать во всех видах речевой деятельности новые лексические единицы по теме «Черты характера»;

развивать умения во всех видах речевой деятельности;

развивать логическое мышление;

развивать учебно-познавательную компетенцию через развитие способов учебной деятельности (понимание идиом);

воспитать нравственные ценности и ориентиры;

воспитать заинтересованность в расширении своих знаний;

формировать качества гражданина и патриота.

Активная лексика:  Aggressive, caring, creative, dedicated, dishonest, jealous, loyal, mean, moody, patient, respected, selfish, supportive, trusting, well-meaning.

Оборудование: УМК "Spotlight"- 10, под редакцией Ю.Е. Ваулиной, Дж. Дули, аудиодополнение, доска, презентация.

ПОДГОТОВКА К ВОСПРИЯТИЮ ИНОЯЗЫЧНОЙ РЕЧИ (ОРГАНИЗАЦИОННАЯ ЧАСТЬ УРОКА)

Greeting 1. Беседа.

T: Good morning, boys and girls.

 P-s: Good morning, teacher.

 T: I’m glad to see you.

 P-s: We are glad to see you too.

T: Sit down, please. Let’s start our lesson. Answer my questions, please. What date is it today?

 P1: Today is ….

Aim 2. Сообщение темы и цели урока.

T: Today you’re going to know how to describe personal qualities as well as how to express annoyance. What makes a personality? We will discuss different things creating a perfect personality at the same time. So… Let’s start.

Do you agree with the phrase: Personality is a set of qualities that make a person distinct from another?

P1: In some ways we are all the same. We all have the same human nature. We share a common humanity. We all have human bodies and human minds, we all have human thoughts and human feelings.

P2: Yet in other ways we are all completely different and unique. No two people are truly alike. No two people can ever have the same experience of life, the same perspective, the same mind.

T: What does the word “personality ” include?

P3: Personality can be defined in different ways, depending on whether we focus on the individual or on people in general.

If we focus on people in general, then we can define personality in terms of individual differences — that is, the range of different styles of thinking, feeling and acting.

P4: If we focus on the personality of a specific individual, we can define it as that person’s particular set of enduring dispositions or long-term tendencies to think, feel and act in particular ways.

Warming-up 3. Введение в иноязычную атмосферу.

T: Listen to each sentence describing a personality type (for example, “A person who is happy”). Then choose the word that describes that personality type (“cheerful” in this example).

T: Look at the dialogue. Read the first two exchanges and answer the questions. What’s the relationship between Kim and Julie?

P1: They are friends.

T: Why is Kim angry?

P2: Because Julie cancelled her plans again.

T: What is the dialogue about?

P3: Kim is telling Laura why she is angry with her friend.

T: Read and translate.

T: Go through the words/phrases in the columns. You should make true statements in relation to the text.

T: Let’s elicit the meaning of the word selfish. Work in pairs and practise a dialogue about a

selfish friend. Use the dialogue plan on the board to act out your dialogues.

P1: What’s the matter, Jill?

P2: Oh, I’ve had enough.

P1: Why? What’s up?

P2: It’s Liz again. I lend her my clothes and she never brings them back.

P1: Really?

P2: Yes, she’ll never change. I lent her my new jacket for Saturday night and she still hasn’t returned it. It’s been almost a week now.

P1: Oh, come on! Aren’t you being a bit mean?

P2: No, I don’t think so. She’s always taking advantage of me.

P1: Oh well … forget about it … why don’t we go for a coffee?

P2: Alright. That’s a good idea.

I agree with A, C and F. I can make friends easily because I’m friendly and sociable. Friends help us express ourselves because we spend time together and like the same things and so we are not afraid to express our opinions with them. I’ve experienced a lot with my friends because I’ve known them for a long time and we have done a lot together.
